Other Events

KSW programming also includes other happy hours and networking opportunities throughout the year, as well as invitations to exclusive Kentucky-related events! Stay tuned for the next one!

National Bourbon Heritage Month Happy Hour
(Hosted Every September)

Every September, the nation celebrates America's native spirit (and Kentucky's very own): bourbon. The celebration features a special Kentucky Themed Menu, with past specials including: the classic Seelbach Cocktail, four different juleps, frozen mint juleps, an Owensboro braised mutton sandwich, pimento cheese, bourbon balls, and hot browns. We also hold a raffle for prizes, which have included limited edition (sometimes signed!) bottles of Bourbon, a pair of tickets to see Loretta Lynn (a Kentucky native) at the Lincoln Theater, Bourbon swag, and Kentucky Society memberships. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Henry Clay Scholarship program. Past venues: Jack Rose Dining Saloon (2022), Chicken + Whiskey, Due South, Southern Efficiency.

Kentucky Statehood Day Celebration
(Hosted Every June)
On June 1st, 1792 Kentucky became the 15th state to join the Union and we still celebrate that day many years later! Every June, the Kentucky Society partners with a local restaurant and bar to celebrated Kentucky's birthday with a happy hour and a Kentucky-inspired menu.

White House Kentucky Tree Ornament Decorating
(November 8, 2015)

The Kentucky Society of Washington was invited by the National Park Service to decorate the Kentucky ornaments to be hung on this year’s Kentucky tree, one of the trees on the Ellipse in President's Park. These trees are decorated in conjunction with the National Christmas Tree.  Kentucky Society members gathered (along with bourbon and snacks!) to craft creative ornaments featuring Kentucky state and national parks.
