Bluegrass Ball

The Kentucky Society of Washington was thrilled to celebrate the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States with the best food, Kentucky Bourbon, and company the state has to offer at the 2017 Bluegrass Ball!

The 2017 Bluegrass Ball featured an exclusive Kentucky Bourbon Trail® Reception with legendary members of the Kentucky Distillers' Association, providing guests with the opportunity to taste a selection of Kentucky Bourbons and hear firsthand about the history and distilling process of each featured product.

​

Celebrated restaurateur and chef, Ouita Michel, Owner and Executive Chef of the Holly Hill Inn in Midway, Kentucky, delighted guests’ palates with an artfully executed, Kentucky-inspired menu highlighting produce and products local to the state. Michel has been nominated several times as Restaurateur and Best Chef: Southeast by the James Beard Foundation.

The Bluegrass Ball, which has been named an “Editors Pick” by the Washington Post, anticipated an audience of over 1,000 including politicians, celebrities, Washington tastemakers, proud Kentuckians, and friends of Kentucky.

For the first time ever, the Bluegrass Ball offered a “Dessert, Drinks, & Dancing” ticket option at a special price for those who wanted to skip the savory in favor of the sweet! 

​

The 2017 Bluegrass Ball was open to both members of the Kentucky Society of Washington and non-members, though Society members received an early opportunity to purchase a limited number of tickets. If you are a KSW member, you must be in good standing in 2016 to take advantage of the early purchase opportunity.

Guests of the Bluegrass Ball received a gift bag of Kentucky-based souvenirs and products, including a special commemorative item.
